This selection is located
only in the pyramid of Pepi I on the south wall of a Waiting-room in the
Entrance Passage. Faulkner conveniently suppresses
the overwhelming 'levitation'
nature of this long Utterance by characterizing it in his heading as an
'ascension'
text, which is perilously close to the same thing! Faulkner is translating
the third person Pepi I in the equivalent first person form. But he consistently
ignores the unmistakable 'pun structure' evidence of significant meaning
which is inside of so many of the Pyramid Text words, like those in italics
below. It is clear that the authors of these texts were keenly aware of
an ancient spiritual technology for Levitation,
not unlike that in the Kashmir Shaiva tradition, still surviving in India
today. After all, the same 'solitary
Word
is Said' for the paranormal attainment
of Levitation
in both Jaideva Singh's English translation of the Paratrisika-Vivarana
and the Pyramid Texts.
